About Hendersonville Well Pump Repair

Hendersonville Well Pump Repair is an independently operated local service for homeowners on private wells. We also explain the North Carolina certification you should ask anyone working on your well to show. Our service area is Hendersonville and Henderson County, west to Brevard in Transylvania County, and southeast to Columbus in Polk County. We publish our prices, we diagnose before we sell anything, and we treat a house with no water as urgent.

Why we are set up this way

Most of Henderson County’s land area is on wells, and most well companies here publish nothing about price. That leaves a homeowner whose shower quit at 6 a.m. calling around blind, getting “we’ll have to come look,” and then facing a number with no way to check it. That is backwards. The pricing page lists what a diagnostic visit, a switch, a tank, a pump at each depth, a new well, and a neutralizer actually cost in this market, and every service page says what moves the number. If a bid you get elsewhere is outside those ranges, you can ask why.

The second reason is that the county is filling up with people who have never owned a well. Henderson County grew from 106,740 residents in 2010 to 116,281 in 2020, its own comprehensive plan found that all of its growth in the 1990s came from people moving in rather than births, and 27.4 percent of residents are now 65 or older. A retired couple who bought on a wooded acre in Flat Rock or Mills River often finds out what a pressure tank is the morning it fails. Who does the work

North Carolina regulates well work through the Well Contractors Certification Commission, created by the legislature in 1997. The rules require a certified well contractor to be present whenever a well is constructed, repaired, altered, or abandoned, certification runs from Level D (pump installation, breaking the well seal, disinfection, down-hole cameras) up through Level A (all drilling methods and geothermal loops), and pump installation requires at least Level D. Licensed plumbers hold a limited exemption to open the seal and disinfect when replacing a pump, provided they have taken the required training. We do not advertise a certification number here. Ask anyone who comes to work on your well to show theirs, us included.

What good well work looks like

Cheap parts first. A no-water call is checked at the breaker, the pressure switch, and the control box before anyone talks about pulling the pump. Most of the time the fix is under $450.
Size to the well, not the catalog. Mountain wells in fractured granite and gneiss often produce only a few gallons a minute. The U.S. Geological Survey puts the average reported yield in these aquifers at about 15 to 20 gallons per minute, and many wells are well under that. A pump matched to depth and yield lasts; an oversized pump pumps the well dry and burns.
Test before treating. Blue-green stains, orange stains, or a sulfur smell get a water test ($50 for the county’s bacteria test, more for a full panel) before anyone quotes a neutralizer or an iron filter.
Permit when the rule says so. Henderson County Environmental Health requires a permit before a well is drilled, repaired, or abandoned; Transylvania and Polk run their own programs under the same state rules. Those permits are issued by Henderson County Environmental Health (or the Transylvania or Polk office), and you should know before work starts whether your job needs one.
Say the hard thing. Sometimes a low-yield well needs a storage tank or hydrofracturing, not a bigger pump. Sometimes an old hand-dug or shallow bored well is past saving and the honest answer is a new well. We say it before the money is spent.

Hendersonville is the center, and the service area follows the roads out of it: Flat Rock four miles south, Fletcher about nine miles north on US 25, Mills River eight miles up NC 191, Etowah eight miles west on US 64, Brevard about 20 miles on the same road, and Columbus about 20 miles down I-26 and US 74.
